If I think I have Sleep Apnea, what should I do?

Are CPAP machines covered by OHIP?

They are partially covered through the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care – Assistive Devices Program. Depending on the patient’s choice of machine and mask this portion will vary.

Is CPAP a cure?

No, it is a treatment. There is no known cure for Sleep Apnea. However, CPAP users can report weight loss and healthier lifestyles, which in turn depending on symptoms can reduce pressure on the throat and reduce Apneic events.

When do I qualify for Home Oxygen?

There are certain criteria that the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care – Home Oxygen Program has set out to test patients’ qualifications. In order to be tested, please contact us immediately and we will arrange for your testing (its free!).

Do I need a prescription to purchase Home Oxygen for myself or my loved one?

Yes, Oxygen is a drug and is strictly controlled. The prescription can come from a specialist or from your Family Doctor.

Is Home Oxygen a cure for shortness of breath?

No, it is a treatment.

Yes – we will drive straight to your home or location you desire.

Do you have any staff on-site that speak any language other than English?

Most definitely, our staff can assist you in any of the following fifteen languages:
Amharic, Bahasa (Indonesia /Malay), Cantonese, English, Filipino (Tagalog, Visayan), French, Hindi, Japanese, Mandarin, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Urdu.
We will also work with any translator.

What type of medical professionals can I expect to find in your company?

Our medical staff are qualified licensed medical professionals consisting of: Dr. of Dental Surgery, Registered Respiratory Therapists, Registered Nurses, Registered Polysomnographic Technologists, and Kinesiologists.
Our Registered Polysomnographic Technologists have managed and operated diagnostic equipment in IHF sleep clinics. All of our staff has provided continuous treatment and education for over ten thousand clients who are using CPAP therapy.

How do I know I am attending a reputable company?

Canadian Home Healthcare Inc. has been providing medical services with its associate corporation for over thirty years. Each one of our locations is a registered Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care – Assistive Devices Program Vendor. We are members of the Ontario Long-Term Care Association. In addition to this we hold a joint-venture with Halton Healthcare Services (formally Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital) established in 1997, providing home oxygen to the Halton community.

Do you only provide Sleep Therapy services and products?

No we are a full home healthcare provider supplying home oxygen therapy, medical gases and respiratory products.
