Home Sleep Apnea Tests

Unfortunately, the home sleep testing program has been suspended indefinitely due to COVID-19.

In Ontario, most sleep apnea tests known as a Level 1 Polysomnography (PSG) are conducted in an accredited Independent Health Facility sleep lab and are funded by the Ministry of Health (MOH) for eligible Ontario residents. This test screens for sleep apnea as well as other sleep disorders.

Home sleep apnea tests (HSAT) can be conducted in the comfort of your own home. HSAT tests are not currently funded by the MOH. Screening results are obtained by wearing a portable unit worn overnight. Although the HSAT can provide a diagnosis of sleep apnea it does not assess for other sleep disorders, and the testing must still take place through an accredited sleep lab. We work closely with accredited sleep labs to facilitate this process, and the board-certified sleep physicians that interpret the sleep study results.

Only Level 1 Polysomnography results are accepted by the Ontario Ministry of Health’s Assistive Devices Program for funding assistance of CPAP devices.

If the sleep physician diagnoses you with sleep apnea we will coordinate  our healthcare professionals to provide you the sleep apnea treatment.
